Correction on Something in Past Life

While I am delighted about Past Life being back on the air, I do want to correct something that was mentioned in the Saint Sarah episode. In it, they state that according to studies, 68% of people reincarnate within a short distance of where they died in the previous life. I’d be darned curious as to where they came up with that information (assuming they didn’t just make it up!). From what I’ve seen that is baloney.

It also bothers me that all of the past lives they show ended shortly before they were reborn. Again, that is quite uncommon. I have heard of rare cases where that happened. The examples I know of were of people who died in the Holocaust. The usual estimates for the average time between lives is anywhere between 75 – 200 years depending on who you talk to. In cases of traumatic deaths, the average is closer to 15 – 20 years. However, that is nowhere near the matter of months that they claim is normal in that show.

I have one other little peeve about the show. In a couple of the episodes, the actors playing the reincarnatees were guilty of major overacting while doing their freak out scenes. Holy cow, what was the director thinking in allowing that?!! I’m a little concerned that if the average person sees such over the top nonsense, it will cause them to take the whole concept of reincarnation as over the top nonsense, too.

Past Lives has since been PERMANENTLY cancelled. I do agree wtih you about the inaccuracies.

Yes, it was canceled after only 3 episodes back in February. In addition to the general prejudices against it that I mentioned in an earlier blog, they alienated a lot of potential viewers from the get go by making disparaging comments about Republicans and men in the first episode. Really stupid move on the part of the writers.

Oh, did you mean that they even cancelled the airing of the last remaining episodes? They only aired 2 of them and them, poof, it was gone again.
