Active Ghosts at the Museum Today
I had the best day at work today. I got there about a half hour before my coworker did, so I said good morning to the ghosts and started nattering away to them like I always do when I’m alone there. Suddenly, I felt this intense feeling of being loved. It was so strong that it nearly brought tears to my eyes. Awwww. They like me, they really like me!
We had a nice wedding and reception that lasted until the late afternoon. Afterwards, I was back in the carriage house vacuuming and kept seeing something out of the corner of my eyes. Then I heard a high pitched whistle followed closely in succession by a low pitched whistle. I thought my coworker Stacey was trying to get my attention, so I looked up. No one was there. Then a door stopper, the kind that is screwed to the door and has a joint that allows it to be flipped up out of the way, suddenly flipped down. The floor is on a concrete slab, so in theory, the vibration from the vacuuming should not have been enough to cause it to flip down. A little while later, as we were in the process of leaving, we both heard a metallic clinking noise come from the next room, and neither Stacey nor I could think of a reason for it. Stacey is intrigued by the ghosts, but she gets a little weirded out by them when stuff like that happens. I, OTOH, remembered at that point to thank the ghosts for whistling for me and let them know how much I enjoyed that. Seconds later, we heard a muffled woman’s voice say something. We couldn’t make out what it said, but it was long enough to have been “you’re welcome.” Cool, cool, cool. Stacey was really nervous by that point and wanted to get the place locked up and get out of there. I was tempted to stick around for awhile. Unfortunately, it was getting dark, and I didn’t want to be walking around some fairly deserted sections of downtown at night by myself, so I left, too. But boy, I would have been happy to spend all night if I could.
